Rotortech Aero Composites Ltd

Rotortech Acquired by Penta Private Equity Group

Last week, the Czech-and-Slovak private equity group Penta concluded its first acquisition in Western Europe by purchasing the British company Rotortech Limited, a company which manufactures composite components for the aviation industry. The newly established company will be called Rotortech Aero Composites Ltd and after restructuring, may become part of AERO Vodochody, another Penta owned organization based in the Czech Republic. Immediately after the contract was signed, a new management team was established in the company, comprising of representatives from Penta and AERO Vodochody.

"The acquisition of Rotortech confirms Penta's long-term interest in the aviation industry. AERO Vodochody is ready to increase production volume and to compete with leading suppliers in this field. The acquisition of the composite expertise and technology possessed by Rotortech will boost AERO's position on the world aerostructures market and make it easier for the company to acquire new contracts," says Marek Dospiva, partner at Penta.

The demanding negotiations leading up to the sale lasted several months. Penta's tender secured the enterprise over local private equity groups and strategic investors.

The core business of Rotortech is manufacturing composite parts for the aviation industry. Global long term trends show the share of composites in aviation technology is increasing and in the near future, a growth in demand in the region of 20% a year is expected. The main advantage of the modern material, over traditional metal alloys used for the production of primary aircraft constructions, is its ideal combination of strength and lightness.

In the near future, Penta plans to invest in the production technology at Rotortech, whose customers include AERO Vodochody, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and BAE Systems
